Finding a studio in Rotterdam
A studio can make independent living manageable, but compact housing needs careful comparison. Pay attention to facilities, occupancy rules and the provider’s intended residents.
Sources checked:
A studio is not automatically new-build
Stadswonen rents rooms and studios to a defined student group. Its entire portfolio is not newly built. The municipality describes StartR as compact homes with private kitchens, showers and toilets. Check both the property type and construction status rather than inferring either from a search label.
Test your everyday layout
Mark sleeping, cooking, studying and storage areas on the floor plan. Ask about ventilation, laundry and bicycle space. Read whether sharing the home is allowed, which age or study requirements apply and how long the contract lasts. Compare the total cost including services: a small floor area does not automatically make a home affordable or suitable.
Check before deciding
- Check private versus shared facilities.
- Read occupancy and contract conditions.
- Draw a furniture plan to scale.
