Living in Rotterdam's high-rise buildings
A Rotterdam skyline view has obvious appeal, but comfortable high-rise living depends on everyday details. Compare the individual apartment and how the whole building will operate.

Evidence of construction
The municipality dates De Sax's start to 28 October 2025, with homes for sale and rent. BAM reports foundation work in September 2026. This supports its construction status, not particular vacancies or a ranking of the tallest towers.
Look beyond the panorama
Ask about lift capacity, breakdown procedures, moving reservations and delivery access. Discuss wind comfort on balconies and at entrances, solar exposure and ventilation. Consider bicycle storage, waste routes and accessibility too. Shared amenities may be useful, but establish their service charges or owners' association contributions and the provision for future maintenance.
Check before deciding
- Review the orientation and layout of the exact apartment.
- Ask how lifts, deliveries and moving days are managed.
- Compare monthly costs including shared facilities and maintenance.
