Choosing a new-build apartment
Rotterdam’s new-build apartments differ in more than floor area. Layout, position within the building and shared facilities shape how comfortably you will live there.

Look at usable space
New Maas presents several apartment types, while Zuiderhof includes a range of rental apartments. Use project descriptions as a starting point for comparing floor plans. Can a dining table fit alongside your work area? Where will laundry equipment and bicycles go? An additional room may matter more than a few extra square metres.
Assess the building and costs
Ask about lifts, waste disposal, deliveries, storage and the route from street to front door. Check balcony orientation and overlooking without assuming views are permanent. Buyers face shared building expenses; renters may pay service charges beyond base rent. Compare the complete monthly budget rather than the headline price.
Check before deciding
- Compare floor plans side by side.
- Ask which facilities carry compulsory charges.
- Check daylight, noise and outdoor space.
